Hmm, I thought that I should inform my contact list that i now listen to NOVA for eight hours every day. This is truly horrible. I wish for you to know this. What's worse is that i listen to it for eight hours between 5pm and 1am, which means i get to hear the entirety of BOTH NOVA NINETEENS. Thus, given that their playlists are so short i think i hear about twenty tracks repeated about ooh say four times whilst i'm at work.

What's worse is when i go to the gym prior to employment, for instance today, and the gym too has NOVA the aural invasion is even more extensive.

I must stop my whining. It is all in a good cause, that of the production of income, and this is useful as it benefits the economy as I will no doubt choose to spend what I earn. So from the perspective of driving economic growth [if one happens to consider that this is a good thing] me putting up with NOVA is doubtless a good thing.

FURTHER! you should all be online after about 1:10AM, as this seems to be when i get home!

Michael :)

tomorrow i have an exam! this is my second 1 hour exam. i'm confident that it will be as absolutely thrilling as the last. unfortunately, i know quite a lot less about this one so at this point you might consider that i have two options:
1. to study.
2. to not study.
i have not yet reached conclusion as to which of the two above options i shall partake. however, i shall inform you as to the nature of the subject. the subject is commonly known as Global Politics, and is a first year arts subject. in my hour in the royal exhibition building i must write two 'essays'. i question the use of the word 'essay', as i'm really not confident that i'd like to classify anything that i shall write in half an hour as being at all essay like. instead, i imagine that it will look a lot more like an introductory paragraph with some content following. nonetheless, the first of these essays will relate to globalisation alternately i have a feeling that it could instead be a 'why did the cold war end?' style question, and for the second i shall be given seven or eight options so that i can talk about such areas as refugees, global environmental politics or trade liberalisation.

in other exciting news my quest to extricate myself from msn seems to be going quite well*. i'm approaching 48 hours without use of that horrible horrible microsoft service. as a mac user i was obviously already convinced that microsoft is the darkside, yet that the darkside could lure me so does demonstrate that i am easily tempted.

Michael

* i'm becoming a real hermit with livejournal and email as my only links with the outside world.

So this evening we witnessed Sushi Stadium and the Bonito Battle. I tend to think that the sushi making skills of the Challenger on Iron Chef were rather good [probably why he was the champion sushi chef in 1994 when this episode of Iron Chef was made]. I would really quite like a lift in the quality of sushi offered to us by Plush Fish, but as the commentary team suggested that the requisite skills for creating sushi of that quality would take ten years and given the volume of sushi that Plush sells ... I think that sushi rivalling that of the Challenger is not likely to be on offer at melbourne uni any time soon.

Hmm. In other exciting news: I just went for a walk.
In even more exciting news: This afternoon I sat outside in the sun and read about Assault and Battery.

Battery is actually somewhat interesting, especially the issues as to what you can consent to. It is important to note that you can consent to at least a level of harm in regard to manly pursuits such as: wrestling, duelling [foils], cudgels, rough horseplay and that sort of thing. However, anything much outside this list could leave the person that is acting on the other's consent open to conviction. For instance a group of homosexuals who have been meeting over a period of 10 years for entirely consensual sadomasochistic activities will be convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm* while the husband in a heterosexual couple in which the female has consented to having her husband brand his initials on her buttocks with a heated knife will not be convicted as activities between a husband and wife in private should not be criminalised if they within the category of inflicting actual bodily harm [and there is consent].

* note that this is an english decision and despite the European Court of Human Rights having allowed the individuals to be released, it still stands as good law.

Isn't the law great?

Michael

This afternoon I did an exam. That is all that need/should be said about that.

However, in the exam recovery period i did some very exciting things. The most exciting of these is that i have now got around to invoicing Scotch for debating coaching dating back as far as the twentieth of May. When i say that i have got around to invoicing Scotch i mean that i have printed off the invoice that i shall in time put in an envelope and mail to them. Further, i experienced a delightful public house opposite the Perseverance on the corner of Brunswick and Moor Streets. The late afternoon sun could quite possibly have been achieved somewhere that was less out of my way, however, it was still all rather lovely.

I have also concluded that i need a new t-shirt. This t-shirt has history in that i had a very similar t-shirt at the age of 3 or 4 which had the words "Maths is as easy as Pi" [with Pi inscribed not as a "p" followed by an "i" but instead with the Greek letter that is phonetically equivalent to "pi"]. This t-shirt was incredibly cool and thus my mother is going to investigate whether the Mathematics Association of Victoria [MAV - yes they are the people that wrote the really crap practice exam papers back in the day] still sell them ... 16 years on. [note: i think it is important to say that my mother did not get me a t-shirt from the MAV when i was 3 ... one of her tutoring students did]. If they do not i shall probably have to commit a copyright infringement and make one for myself. So people, watch out, the maths is as easy as pi t-shirt is going to change your world!

I'm convinced that updating my livejournal more than once a month is bad form and that really I should be aiming for once every three months or so. However, as it is my last post was on the 9th of October, and today is but the 6th of November. If you want to know what has got into me to induce this flurry of activity I tell ye that the answer is swot vac. Swot vac is a horrible thing to do to me, it means i must find ways to fill in my days that involve as little study as possible. I used to play snake on my nokia 3310, but given the upgrade of phone that occurred a few months ago pulling out the old phone just to attempt to beat my snake highscore of 2647 seems a little too much ... and thus I have resorted to livejournal!

So. To demonstrate, that i'm alive, and therefore worthy of a livejournal I can tell all you curious onlookers that today I:
+ Spent an hour or so in the sun reading contracts.
+ Had a rather filling lunch.
+ Discovered that the concepts of misleading and deceptive conduct and misrepresentation are ... hmm ... interesting.
I think that the rest of my day must have been taken up with procrastination. However, I can't really recall, this may demonstrate that either I'm getting so good at procrastination that I can't recall partaking of it OR my quality of procrastination is not up to a level and involves such uncreative activities that noone would ever hope to recall it.

Michael

---> If I were to update again before today is over, would that really be demonstrating a worrying trend?

dear mr nelson,

i am writing to you today to inform you that i am not very impressed with the review that has taken your name. it has some serious problems, and if you don't want people to start associating you with this review thus tarnishing your own good name, i think that now would be a very good time to let the people know that you don't support the proposed changes to higher education in australia.

if you would like to hear my problems on this issue, mr nelson, feel free to comment and i'd be willing to enlighten you of the grave problems that will ensue.

your fellow british subject

michael

a long time ago, there lived an old man in south eastern australia, very near where michael lives in melbourne. this old man knew stories of the land and he knew how to speak to the land. and so he knew when the land was happy and when it was sad, when it felt overwhelmed by the wallabies and wombats, and when the peoples of the land had spent too long in one particular place.

this old man was very old. he had seen the spirits shape the land, he had stood through the dreaming, and he had let his gaze fall upon the coming of man. man came and prospered, man learnt to live with the land, and the old man was able to help them to not hurt the land. it was a happy time, it was the best of times. no longer did the old man feel lonely but the land from which he had come, and was a part, was content.

white man was a different matter. he did not coexist with the land, he existed on the land and by the land, but did not give two hoots about the welfare of the land. white man corrupted the men who understood the land. white man brought gin, refined white sugar, coffee and the ways of a world that had been defiled for many years.

the old man did not survive, the ways of yore were ever forgotten, but the old man was not corrupted. the old man became feeble as his land was pillaged and as the cries of the land hurt him ever more.

now children i would like to introduce you all [i think most of you know him] to a friend of mine by the name of ashley. ashley is a boy who has recently come across the concept of a livejournal, and has since made a post. under the moniker of flatulent_moose. now, for any of you who don't know what you will be getting yourselves into, here are some definitions:

flat?u?lent adj
1.	causing excessive gas to be created in the stomach and intestines
2.	having excessive gas in the digestive system
3.	having or showing excessive self-importance

moose n
a large mammal of the deer family, with long legs and, in the male, large flat palmate antlers, found in North America, Europe, and Asia.
Does the ease with which something can be obtained give it more or less value in the eye of the beholder?

Let us call this thing a widget [because widgets rock]. Now say that this widget could be bought with a silver coin, say a twenty-cent piece. The value that one placed upon it would obviously be less than if the same good had a monetary worth of many thousands of dollars. One would treat it with more respect, one would love your widget greedily, and maybe even insure it against loss, fire, cyclones and other acts of god.

The greater the difficulty attached with the getting of a widget the more one will be interested in this widget, and why it has properties that make it more difficult to obtain than other, lesser widgets. However, there must come a point at which the difficulty of obtaining a particular widget, compared to that of its lesser counterparts, becomes so great that one cannot be bothered even contemplating what this widget would do for ones life.

Some of you childrenses out in the ether must be wondering what this has to do with life, the universe and everything, and the answer is a lot. You see childrenses, mr monz of monz corporation goes away to law camp tomorrow, and one of the activities at this camp is a ?traffic light party?. [which entails the wearing of green to demonstrate that you are free and easy, amber {orange} to suggest a slightly harder to get, maybe if you are good enough approach, and red for ?I?M TAKEN. FUCK OFF?]

My expectation is that as this camp has a reputation for debauchery and drunkenness and all other good things that do not necessarily begin or end with ?d?, the majority of its attendees will be opting for the traditional irish colouring of green. Yet, this means that if I go about parading the loyal orange?s infamous orange colouring will I be that little bit more difficult to fathom and therefore get that little bit more attention that we all know that I deserve?

Meh. This question isn?t quite as good as mr john nash?s thoughts on how a group of kiddies could most easily get laid which resulted in his pulling game theory out of thin air, and I suspect that this question has been asked before [which demonstrates a lack of individuality on my part], but it is still a good question. And if anyone wants to lend their brawn or brain or some other part of their anatomy to this question, send me an sms [0422 074 002] because I probably won?t be checking my email or anything else before I have to choose whether I am free and easy or slightly more hesitant.

Thank you my children for the effort that I am sure you will put into answering this question, as something or other depends upon it, not much tho.
